ITARI was established with a
vision to enhance Teacher Capital by focusing on unlocking the intrinsic
potential of teachers. Training at ITARI encourages self-directed learning,
continuous professional development, whole-education and leadership. The
current batch of PGDIE has a mix of students from varying backgrounds which
include a film director, a foreign teacher and a school promoter.
Launched in the year 2009, and in
a short span of 6 years, ITARI has registered 662 teachers across various
academic programs and 75% of the graduates have been placed in premier
international schools. Addressing the media Mrs. Sarojini Rao, Advisor, ITARI,
said one of the reasons for the growth of international schools is the fact
that they encourage creativity and free-thinking, both important
characteristics for success in a globalized world. The growth of international
schools (IB/IGCSE curriculum) has revived public interest in teaching as a
career choice. ITARI seeks to fulfill this demand by facilitating development
of a professional learning community through international education and
leadership.
Expressing her views Pallavi Naomi
Singh, another teacher who was trained by ITARI said “As an unsure fresher,
looking for a job as a teacher at a good school, being selected through campus
recruitment and getting accepted into ITARI was an absolute blessing for me and
my family. The PGCIE training I received was transformational. The faculty at
ITARI are not only experts but warm, inspiring individuals who have, in a short
time, impacted my life and career positively’’. Pallavi was recruited as a
teacher at Indus International School, Pune after completion of the Post
