3 City Students Achieve the Highest Scores in the recently declared IB exams results out of 15,800 students in the Asia- Pacific Region.
In the recently declared IB exam results 3 students from
Indus International School, Bangalore have achieved a perfect score of 45 –
this is the maximum score, which can be achieved in these examinations. Over 370 schools and 15,800 students, from the Asia
Pacific region appeared in the exams. They
achieved an average diploma score of 33.16 points (of 45 possible maximum),
with 54 students achieving a perfect score.
The pass rate in Asia Pacific was 89.71% as compared to a global pass
rate of 79.28%. With more than 800 examination papers processed in 76
languages, this was the largest examination session conducted in IB since the
introduction of DP.
The three students Mahesh Bhide, Ami Mehta and
Samiksha Choudhary were extremely elated when they heard the news. Ami Mehta
says, “I was ecstatic! At first I was completely tongue-tied but after the news
sunk in, it was an incredible feeling to realize that all the hard work had
paid off.” Ami plans to become an architect with a focus on sustainability and
development. She has obtained placement in Cornell University, USA and her
chosen subject is architecture. She feels her alma mater played a major role in
her achievement. She further adds, ‘’ My teachers were a constant source of
support to help me clear my doubts. Indus’ school philosophy furthermore
supported my academic performance by enhancing my skills in the broader context
of leadership education through workshops, competitions and other challenges
that helped me achieve my goals.” Ami has also received offers from University
of Southern California, Pratt Institute and Syracuse University and a total
scholarship amount worth USD 88,980 from various universities.
Mahesh was extremely happy that his hard work
has paid off. He has obtained placement in the University of Chicago (ranked
among the top four national universities in USA) and has chosen Economics and
Statistics as his subjects. He feels that Indus’ emphasis on extracurricular
activities helped develop his critical thinking skills which are important to
succeed in a programme like IB DP. His ambition is to start a social enterprise
after gaining some experience. Samiksha Choudhary plans to become a doctor and
has obtained placements for Medicine in Kings’ College, UK (ranked amongst the
top 5 universities in UK).
